Well first off, she’s a celeb mom who actually dresses like a mom. Secondly, she does awesome stuff like teaming up with Frigidaire to teach parents and kids how to eat fresh this summer! Led by Adam Kaye, chef and kitchen director for Blue Hill at Stone Barns restaurant, the farm fresh cooking experience was in full force! Together, they kicked off the Frigidaire Kids’ Cooking Academy Summer Session, which gave families some insight into the seasonality of food and experience in preparing meals from just-picked ingredients. “I’m a huge fan and avid supporter of my local Farmers Market,” said Garner. “Showing kids how foods go from farm to table is an important first step in creating healthy eating habits. The Frigidaire Summer School is a great way to educate kids and their parents about the importance of eating fresh.” See what we mean! Awesome. And the best part is, she’s not the only star who does great things around the community. No, really! Look at our Do-Gooder gallery to prove it! |

It’s officially summer in Washington when bright-eyed interns start outnumbering reporters at press conferences on the Hill. That was the case on Wednesday when actress and Capitol Hill regular Jennifer Garner joined Sen. Bob Casey, Sen. Barbara Mikulski and Save the Children’s Mark Shriver to talk about early childhood education and child care. A conservatively dressed Garner peered at the barely old enough to drink crowd from behind the podium and said, “You guys look…young.” Garner declared that the reason the young’uns were “bright, successful, clean, pretty-looking people,” was because of their early education opportunities. And just in case the camera-toting college crowd had trouble thinking about Garner as anything but a product of Tinseltown, Shriver reminded them that the actress is actually “a daughter of West Virginia” and “understands the problem of rural poverty very well.” |

The denial given to E! News puts paid to gossip that five-year-old Violet and two-year-old Seraphina were going to become big sisters any time soon. She was also seen last Wednesday going to a business meeting in a fitted black dress that showed a more rounded stomach, which continued to set the rumour mill alight. |

Jennifer Garner’s representative has dismissed reports the actress is expecting her third child with husband Ben Affleck. The “Alias” star was snapped shopping recently, and one photo appeared to show Garner with a small belly bump, prompting rumors she is expecting another baby. But her rep has brushed off the gossip, telling E! Online, “The speculation is false, she is not pregnant.” The Hollywood couple is already parents to two daughters, Violet, five, and Seraphina, two. |

Actress Jennifer Garner will host a June 18 benefit for the Charleston Light Opera Guild. Garner took part in Guild productions when she was growing up in Charleston. She will attend the June 18 performance of the Guild’s show “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” which will run during the city’s arts extravaganza, FestivALL. She also will appear at a gala reception at the Charleston Civic Center after the show. Guild Director Nina Pasinetti said Garner volunteered to host a benefit for the Guild. Pasinetti was once Garner’s dance instructor and cast the actress in roles for several Guild musicals, including “Annie Get Your Gun” and “The Music Man.” Mayor Danny Jones also performed in those productions. “I tell anyone who will listen to me that I was in two shows with Jennifer Garner,” he said during a news conference Thursday. Those who attend the benefit performance will walk a red carpet into the Civic Center Little Theater. Tickets are $200 for the show, the after party and a photograph taken with Garner. For just the show and after party, tickets are $120. Tickets go on sale June 1 at the Civic Center Little Theater Box Office. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. FestivALL begins June 17 and continues through June 26 throughout Charleston. Performances of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” are June 17-19 and 24-26. |
